What is in Macmillan Practice Online?
Macmillan Practice Online is an online English course with a Markbook/ Gradebook where your students' scores and progress are saved. In addition they will have access to the Macmillan English Dictionary Online and a messaging function. If you create an account for yourself, you can ask your students to join your class and will then see their course content and progress.You can stay in contact with each student using the messaging function.

What are courses?
A Macmillan Practice Online course is an online course that is made up of different items which are similar to units in a coursebook, each containing a collection of resources. Each course contains up to 200 interactive resources comprising of language and vocabulary resources, listening and pronunciation practice, web projects and games. It is possible for a teacher to connect with their students to view their scores and progress.

What types of course are available?
There are many types of Macmillan Practice Online courses. These include general, business, academic and exam practice courses as well as courses that accompany Macmillan coursebooks. Click here for a full list of courses available.

Can I have a demo of a course?
You can take a tour to see how a Macmillan Practice Online course works or try a variety of sample resources, you can also view a full breakdown of the course syllabus and resources on each course page. As a teacher you can create a free account to Macmillan Practice Online. You will be able to view the syllabus for any course and can access the resources as soon as you have a student in one of your Macmillan Practice Online classes with an active subscription to that course.

Do teachers pay for Macmillan Practice Online?
Macmillan Practice Online is free for teachers to use. You can view the syllabus of each course available and once a student has joined your class, you will have full access to the course content that they are subscribed too.

How much are the courses?
Student access to the courses range in price from £9 – £16. A full list is available here .

How long does the course last?
A student Macmillan Practice Online course lasts one year from the date that the code is activated.
A teacher login to Macmillan Practice Online does not expire. You will have access to the Practice Online courses as long as you have Macmillan Practice Online classes with an active subscription.

Can my students have more than one course active at the same time?
Yes, they can have multiple courses active at the same time. They can complete different courses and the scores will be recorded in a separate Markbook/Gradebook for each course.

Can I add a student course to my teacher account?
If as a teacher you wish to purchase a student course, you will need to activate the code using a different email address to your teacher account.
If you add a student course to a teacher account, you will be unable to use the course’s full functionality and your scores will not be saved.
If you wish to have a teacher and a student account, you must use two separate email addresses and create two different accounts.

Can students buy courses for self study without a teacher?
Yes, it is not necessary to work with a teacher on a Macmillan Practice Online course, the student can use the course entirely independently. A teacher is not required to score and correct resources, this is done automatically.

How can you get a login for Macmillan Practice Online?
Students
Practice Online courses for students can be bought online or via your local Macmillan office or distributor. Students receive a unique code to activate each course they purchase.Teachers
Creating a teacher account is free and there are two ways to do it:
With a code
If you have a Macmillan teacher’s book with a code printed inside the cover, you can activate the code by clicking on the 'Activate a code' image on the homepage and creating your account.
Without a code
If you do not have a code, click ‘I am a teacher’ on the homepage and then ‘Register now’ to set up your Macmillan Practice Online account. -
Can I pay by invoice?
All orders made through the Macmillan Practice Online website are payable by credit card. If you would like to make a large order of more than 50 codes and pay by invoice please contact your local Macmillan office or distributor or contact us directly to place your order.

Is the CPE Practice Online course changing to reflect the new exam?
The CPE exam is changing. From 2013, the exam will have a new format with a combined Reading and Use of English paper. We are therefore publishing a new and updated course entitled Cambridge English: Proficiency Practice Online. If you are already using the CPE course you will still have access to it. On top of this you will also receive complimentary access to the new course.
